Description
“Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.” II Timothy 1:13
A. W. Tozer wrote: “… I pray that I may be able to preach with convicting power that my people will sweat! I do not want them leaving my services feeling good. The last thing I want to do is to give them some kind of religious tranquilizer and let them go to Hell in their relaxation. Lord, help me to preach with boldness… Not concerned with ‘what people think of me.’ Amen.”
Another preacher from the mid – 20th century wrote: “Old – time preachers were rugged and manly. Today, they shower with Rose – scented soap, wash their hair in strawberry shampoo, put on lemon – scented deodorant, brush their teeth with mint flavored toothpaste, sprinkle lilac foot powder in their shoes, shave with lime foamy, slap on peach cologne and use apple blossom hairspray. Then they go out the door to battle with the forces of evil and mortal conflict with Lucifer, looking like a department store mannequin and smelling like a fruitcake!”
I, for one, want a leather – lunged man of God, who stands uncompromisingly in the pulpit and proclaims; “Thus saith the Lord!” Spineless, mealy – mouthed, milquetoast, politically correct, polished puppets in the pulpit are not the kind of man God will and can use to bring our churches and country back to Him. Preach man – Preach!!!
“…how shall they hear without a preacher.” Romans 10:14b
