WILL YOUR NAME PERISH?

Psa. 41;5B “…HEN SHALL HE DIE, AND HIS NAME PERISH”?

Your name was bantered about by a young couple expecting their first child or maybe discussing you after the shock of the announcement of your conception! Your name first appeared on a plastic bracelet, in pink or blue, around your tiny wrist. It shows up on birthday cards, report cards and then a diploma or two. Your moniker and some digits are the primary characters on a couple of thousand paychecks over your career. It also may have shown up on a police blotter, in the post office or at least a speeding ticket! Over your lifetime, you inscribed it yourself ten thousand times or more. When you retire, it’s engraved on a plaque and then on some monthly Social Security checks. Sadly, it materializes again on wristbands in hospitals more frequently than you desire. Then somberly it designates your domicile att the convalescent home and then in an obituary column. Finally, a granite marker in a cemetery bears your name and significant dates that form parameter-like parentheses around your days on earth.

As you make the trip of your life, I trust there was a grand day when your name was written down in the most important Book of all books, the Lamb’s Book of Life. There. Written with the indelible, crimson ink of the blood of Jesus Christ. To have your name written there on that page white and fair is Glory!!

To answer the Psalmist’s question – Never if you are saved!!
