Wake Up America!

“Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?” (Psalm 85:6)

I was recently asked to proffer my opinion for a veteran missionary seeking his Master’s Degree.  His question concerned whether or not there was the possibility for real revival in the future, or, at least, before the Rapture.  Of course, with God there is always the possibility of revival, refreshment, renewal and restoration for His people.

Another young pastor who just took a large church, embroiled in problems produced by his predecessors, asked me what I felt was the main hindrance to revival.  My answer to that query is three-fold; apathy, activity and arrogance.

Many of God’s people have become victim to an indifference that is strangling their soul winning zeal, adherence to Bible standards and desire to live holy.  An abundance of ‘things-to-do’ and ‘places-to-be’ has sapped folks’ time and destroyed many families.  (Some churches are too busy with activities that have no spiritual, positive impact also).  Finally, many have grown proud and haughty about themselves, their church buildings and/or ministries.  While in reality they have become “…wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:” (Rev. 3:17b).  This arrogant attitude is devastating to real, vital Christianity and Holy Ghost revival.  I cry with the men of the past—Wake up, America!  Wake up, church of God!!  Wake up, fellow Christian!!!

“Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to thy shame”  ( I Cor. 15:34).
