Dear Pastor and friends,

I am writing this letter just before going to Spain and preaching for a few days. I am grateful to God for the amazing doors He has opened for this preacher over these nearly forty years of preaching His wonderful Word. The ministry God has entrusted me with is nothing that I take for granted, and I humbly bow before Him in admiration and praise.
Last Sunday, I preached the fifty-fifth anniversary service for my father at Parker Memorial in Lansing. It was a great privilege and grand experience. Sandy and I also celebrated our fortieth wedding anniversary this month! She deserves a medal!!
Our fall schedule is packed full up to the holidays. I praise God for that fact as well. I covet your prayers and thank you heartily for your support of our ministry for the Saviour. I am able to see souls saved regularly in the meetings, and many Christians seem to be making some spiritual strides as well.
I trust you are praying for our country and the direction we are going. I fear, as many do, we are heading for deep waters and need God to intervene in our behalf and for His glory. No nation that has forgotten and forsaken God to the extent we have has prospered.

Thank you from the depths of my heart for your love and friendship.

Yours for the journey,

Evangelist

Dear Pastor and friends,

Jesus had fed five thousand and four thousand respectively, and had also warned His disciples about the leaven of the Pharisees. Murmuring among themselves, they had confused bread with beliefs, sustenance with spiritual reality, and food with “the faith.” Christ confronted them with this query, “How is it that ye do not understand?” (Mark 8:21).
We live in a confusing hour. Many of God’s good people are being clouded by compromise and coerced into a conviction-less existence. These days are desperate with political intrigue and an unprecedented move away from our spiritual, ethical, and sensible moorings. How is it that you don’t understand the times and the seasons? Friend look up, our redemption draws nigh. It may be by the crushing blow of the enemy or the resounding shout of our Redeemer, but we are going to a far better place- Jesus is coming soon!
I thank each and every supporter of our work for Christ and pray God will continue to bless in the meetings. I am around home for a few days next month and also go to Spain on a missions trip. However, the “big event” of August is Sandy and I will celebrate our 40th anniversary! I have been telling her the 40th is the paperclip or the cardboard anniversary- but she ain’t buying it! Hey, I really need your help next month!

God bless you all!

Yours in His service,

Two Thousand Ten

Dear Pastor and friends,

From Genesis to Revelation, the voice of God is recorded in holy writ and responded to (or disobeyed) by man. God still speaks and by choice, He speaks to man still. If you’re saved you know the timbre and tone of His voice as well as you know your mother’s or your best friend’s. The blessing of His voice is that He chooses to speak to us words of love , concern, care, and ofttimes, correction. You have heard His voice in the storms of life when He says, “Son, fear not.” Or in times when we need His assurance He declares, “I love you.” When we have strayed and returned, He always confronts. Then comforts us with, “Welcome home my child.” How wonderful to know and hear the voice of our Heavenly Father in the quiet recesses of the soul!
I opened June in the panhandle of Florida, and God blessed in a good meeting in a great church. I preached locally the second Sunday and today start a week at a missions school near Chattanooga. Next week I will be in meetings near New Orleans and then on to Idaho. Please breathe a prayer for these meetings when you think about it.
Thank you so much for your help especially in these summer months. It means so much to Sandy and I to know you are in “our corner.” God bless you much is our prayer.

Listening to His voice,

Two Thousand Ten

Dear Pastor and friends,

A discreet scribe asked our Lord a question concerning the commandments’ priority and importance. Christ’s response covered the pre-eminence of God Almighty and man’s responsibility to love Him unreservedly. One’s heart, soul, mind, and strength are to be brought into the focused relationship with God. There is even a little encouragement to love one’s neighbor to the extent that we care for ourselves (Mark 12:28,31).

I would think if we loved God right, we would love others right. If we put our all into loving Him, it would considerably assist us in our relationships with others. The old poem says; “To live above with saints we love, Oh, that will be glory! To live below with saints we know, now that’s another story!” Perhaps we should attempt to live a little more in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Eph. 2:6).

I closed out April in a wonderful meeting near the birthplace of B.R. Lakin, in West Virginia. The church I preached in was established in 1800! The pastor was old, but not that old. I then spent a week in Mt. Airy, NC and preached in the church where I held my first revival in 1976. Now, I feel like I’m getting old! The Lord has been faithful in the conversion of sinners, and the convicting power of the Holy Ghost has been evident in exhortation.

Sandy and I are ever grateful to you and yours for your faithful help to our home and evangelism’s trail. My summer is comfortably full of meetings, and I desire your prayers for God’s power and protection.

Your companion in grace,

April Twenty Six
Two Thousand Ten
Dear Pastor and friends,
On a recent Sunday morning a young couple came down the aisle during the invitation to be saved. They were a typical American pair, tattoos, and earrings adorned their bodies. The man had the earrings, and the lady had the tattoos! They both confessed Christ as Saviour that morning, and I trust it was everlastingly real. Last week in a meeting, a young man in his thirties came to church with, yes, earrings and in his cutoff shorts! He hit the altar and was thoroughly dealt with by the pastor, and I believe he too was saved. Our nation is reeling with a life style and a way of life that is so contrary to the Bible and even common sense; however, this crowd needs the Gospel, and old time religion is the only thing I know that can change lives permanently. Our services must be punctuated and empowered by the work of the Holy Ghost. Old time conviction must be produced, or we are just talking to the choir and filling time. God help us is my prayer!
Thank you so much for your continued and faithful help to the work of God in and around the varied vineyards that He assigns to me. Without your financial aid and prayer support, I could not cris-cross this nation preaching the Bible as it is to men as they are! Sandy and I are truly grateful to God for all of you that have a part in our lives and ministry.
I am in Kentucky, West Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee in the next few weeks. I am driving a little bit more, as our airport is no longer a hub, and it takes a long time to go to many southern stated via Detroit or Minneapolis! Poor old Delta! Pray for me driving, as I don’t do much at night due to my eyesight.
We love you all, and you are daily in my prayers.
Redemptively His & warmly yours,
